525 years after the celebration of the First Mass in Brazil, a documentary about the pilgrimage of the cross that marked this event arrives on Globoplay. The film "Terra de Santa Cruz" premieres next Sunday, the 14th, after being screened during the program of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, at the Discovery Coast, in Bahia. In Rio de Janeiro, there will be a premiere screening on Monday, the 15th, at Kinoplex São Luiz, in Catete.
The production follows the pilgrimage carried out in 2025, when the cross symbolically retraced the route between Portugal and Brazil. Over 15 days, the relic passed through more than 20 cities in both countries, in a journey that brought together religious, historical, and cultural aspects.
The documentary is led by Father Omar, rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary and creator of the initiative, and by indigenous Pataxó Wilza Neves, coordinator of the Native Peoples Center of the Sanctuary. The narrative seeks to connect the historical and religious significance of the cross.
