Coutinho signs with Santos after seven months idle

Dia de Jogo — jornal desportivo10 September 2026 at 20:53

The 34-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is close to signing with Santos. The agreement is being finalized at zero cost, meaning no transfer fees for the club.

Coutinho spent seven months without playing since leaving Vasco da Gama. The player was without a club and had been training individually to maintain his fitness during this period.

The return to Brazilian football represents an attempt to revitalize the player's career, which included stints at major European clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. The negotiation with Santos comes at a time of reconstruction for the club in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship.
