PJ alerts for scam with false IRS refunds

SAPO Notícias10 September 2026 at 18:46

The Judicial Police issued an alert for a scam campaign that uses fraudulent emails in the name of the Tax Authority. The messages promise taxpayers IRS refunds worth thousands of euros, seeking to attract victims to the fraud.

The scammers include in the communication links that direct users to fake pages, where personal and financial data is requested. The objective is to collect sensitive information for possible fraudulent use.

The Tax Authority recommends that taxpayers never click on suspicious links and that they validate any official communication through the official channels of the organization. The authorities continue to monitor these scam attempts.
