Coimbra City Council revealed a positive assessment of the mobility changes implemented in the city, considering that the adopted changes are functioning satisfactorily. The municipality highlights that the carried-out interventions have improved circulation and quality of life in the city.
Among the main implemented measures, the expansion of the 'metrobus' system stands out, which represents a bet on sustainable mobility and public transport. This expansion aims to offer a more efficient and ecological alternative to the citizens of Coimbra.
At the same time, roads were closed to through traffic, that is, to transit traffic that has neither origin nor destination in the affected area. This measure aims to reduce through traffic and prioritize local residents and users.
The municipal authorities argue that these changes contribute to a more sustainable and accessible city, promoting more ecological modes of transport and improving conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.
