The Castelló group Kasparov won this Thursday the best rock song award at the 2026 Latino Awards, the twelfth edition of a national competition organized by the Mundo Ciudad Foundation. This recognition surprised the band, which had announced in June through a statement that the current lineup would not continue and that the members would go their separate ways.
Conrado Font, leader and composer of the band, revealed to the newspaper Mediterráneo that when he read the email informing him of the victory, he initially thought it was a joke. "When I read the email saying I had won, at first I thought it was a joke, I thought 'this is someone who sent me this to have a laugh'," he stated.
Despite the previous announcement about the separation, Font confirmed that Kasparov will continue. The musician will be the frontman of the new lineup, which will feature three new musicians.
