The Associação Física e Desportiva de Torres Vedras is once again in the international spotlight with the selection of three gymnasts to represent Portugal at a Tumbling competition in Nanjing, China, in November. Laura Veloso, Rita Costa and Beatriz Ferreira, accompanied by coach António Monteiro, were called up after highly impactful results obtained at the World Age Groups Championships in Pamplona and at the European Championships in Portimão.
Laura Veloso was the most outstanding athlete, achieving 4th place at the World Age Groups Championships in Pamplona, coming very close to the podium, and 5th place at the Junior European Championships in Portimão. Rita Costa secured 7th place at the World Age Groups Championships, while Beatriz Ferreira finished in 17th place at the World Championships, 28th place at the Senior European Championships and 20th place at the World Cup.
The participation in Nanjing represents the recognition of years of dedication and work developed by the club, which has been establishing its presence in the international gymnastics scene. Coach António Monteiro is considered a central figure in this path of excellence that places Torres Vedras among the elite of the Tumbling discipline.
