World Cup 2030: FIFA denies Morocco about the final stadium

SAPO Notícias10 September 2026 at 17:38

FIFA denied the president of the Moroccan football federation, Faouzi Lekjaa, after he announced that Casablanca's stadium would host the 2030 World Cup final. Lekjaa had made the statement during a meeting with federation members, generating surprise and contestation.

The 2030 World Cup will be co-organized by Morocco, Portugal and Spain, in a joint project spanning three countries from different continents. The Moroccan federation intended to secure the decisive game of the competition for the country.

FIFA clarified that the decision regarding the final venue has not yet been made and that the choice of the host for the last game of the tournament falls exclusively under the authority of the world's football governing body.

This episode comes at a time when the three host countries are still defining the logistical and sporting details of the competition, including the distribution of matches and the selection of cities and stadiums that will host the games.
