The Spanish Ministry of Culture, the autonomous communities, the National Police and the Guardia Civil met in Madrid to improve coordination among all parties in response to the robberies that occurred in recent months at Spanish museums. The meeting served to share data on the "new ways of operating" of thieves and establish joint "good practices."
Among the robberies mentioned, the assault on the Museum of Villena (Alicante) on August 27 stands out, when the Treasure of Villena was stolen, along with the theft at the Museum of Albacete in late July. These incidents are part of a wave of assaults that affected Spanish museums this year.
The shared strategy aims to address this series of robberies by strengthening security and coordinated response among the various entities responsible for protecting the country's cultural heritage.
