The Council of Ministers met in a decentralized manner in Bragança, in the Northern Interior of the country, to debate and approve a set of measures for the Education sector. This meeting outside the capital reflects the Government's effort to bring governmental decisions closer to the interior regions.
Among the main deliberations, the reforms in higher education stand out, aiming to strengthen academic institutions and access to knowledge in the less developed regions of the country. Science was also covered by these measures, with direct impact on research institutions.
The Executive also approved significant changes in teacher placement, responding to long-standing demands from the education sector. These changes aim to improve the process of assigning teachers to schools, ensuring a more balanced and effective distribution of human resources.
Additionally, modifications to the organization of the national scientific system were approved, which should alter the way research is structured and funded in Portugal. All these measures were approved within the scope of this ministerial meeting held in Bragança.
