ERC: Cristina Ferreira did not observe "broadcast ethics"

Observador10 September 2026 at 17:43

The Regulatory Entity for Communication (ERC) considered that Cristina Ferreira did not observe "broadcast ethics" in one of her programs. The regulator analyzed how a case of rape of a teenager was framed.

For the ERC, the framing given to the case makes "the victim's lack of consent seem questionable." The entity considers that this approach transfers to the young woman the responsibility and blame for what happened to her.

Cristina Ferreira is a television presenter in Portugal and is responsible for the program in question. The ERC made a decision about the editorial conduct of the program regarding this situation.
