The GNR of Valongo (Campo) arrested this morning a 30-year-old man in the act when he was attempting to rob a house in Campo. The military officers already had the suspect under surveillance, as he was an individual residing in a social housing complex in Campo who habitually traveled by bicycle.
This man was known to the authorities for thefts that included agricultural products, such as potatoes, which he then sold at prices well below those practiced in the market. The GNR was attentive to his movements and managed to intercept him during the attempted robbery.
At the time of the arrest, the bicycle used by the suspect and a truck battery that had been stolen during that same night were seized. The man was heard at the Court of Valongo the morning following his arrest.
The court decided that the suspect will await trial on bail, with the precautionary measure of identity statement and residence order having been applied.
