The Generalitat appealed to the Supreme Court against the sentences of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community that declared illegal the paralysis of the works of 15 educational centers. The Legal Counsel of the Generalitat, at the request of the Education Department led by José Antonio Rovira, filed these appeals against the judicial decisions.
The conflict originates from the decision made by the current government in July 2023 to halt the construction of these 15 educational centers that had been authorized by the previous Botànic government through the Edificant Plan. This paralysis was considered illegal by the regional courts.
The appealed sentences gave reason to the local entities and opposition parties that challenged the decision to halt the works. However, the appeal to the Supreme Court means that the final resolution will be suspended during the judicial process.
At a practical level, this judicial battle translates into a new delay for the completion of the works of these 15 schools, leaving the educational projects of the respective affected populations in limbo.
