Government and social partners meet on Wednesday with State Budget 2027 on the agenda

The Portuguese Government and social partners meet next Wednesday in Social Concertation to discuss the State Budget for 2027 and the transposition of the Pay Transparency Directive, at a meeting that will be attended by the Finance Minister, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento. The update of the minimum wage, currently at 920 euros, should be one of the central themes, with the 2024 tripartite agreement providing for 970 euros in 2027, although the new Government program points to a target of 1,100 euros by 2029. Business confederations warned that there are measures from the agreement that are not being fulfilled, while UGT demands the reinforcement of the minimum wage and CGTP advocates the immediate increase to 1,050 euros. Regarding the pay transparency directive, Portugal is behind on transposition, with the European Commission having opened an infringement procedure against Portugal.
