Light show illuminates New York to mark 25 years since September 11 attacks

Correio da Manhã10 September 2026 at 16:29

A show with 2,977 drones lit up the sky over New York harbor, in the United States, on Wednesday, to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The event paid tribute to the 2,977 victims of the terrorist attacks.

The show recreated the iconic silhouette of the Twin Towers, the buildings that were destroyed in the 2001 attack. The use of drones allowed an impressive recreation of the structure that marked one of the darkest days in American history.

The number of drones used corresponds exactly to the number of people who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks, when hijacked planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.
