Street cleaning and the disposal of bulky items and bulky waste on public roads were debated at the meeting of the Executive of Almeirim Municipal Council, held on September 7. The issue was raised by the Coalition Now the People, after several complaints from residents regarding the cleaning of public spaces in the municipality.
Councilor Maria Bernardina Andrada, a councilor without portfolios elected by the Coalition, stated that several complaints have been presented related to street cleaning. She also mentioned that Almeirim will be, among the municipalities in Lezíria do Tejo, the one that invests least in the areas of environment and cleaning.
As a solution, the councilor suggested the creation of specific locations, in different points of the municipality, for the disposal of bulky items and bulky waste, seeking to prevent these materials from being abandoned near the bins or in other public spaces.
In response, the mayor of Almeirim Municipal Council, Joaquim Catalão, began by addressing the issue, although the complete response is not mentioned in the article.
