PT asks STF for complete lifting of secrecy of Master case investigations

cbn10 September 2026 at 15:31

The Workers' Party asked the Supreme Federal Court for the complete lifting of secrecy of the investigations into Banco Master. The two petitions were filed on Wednesday evening (9) and directed to Justices André Mendonça and Flávio Dino, who are the rapporteurs of the cases at the STF.

The PT argues that total transparency is the "remedy" against the selective and decontextualized leaks that affect the electoral dispute. According to the party's lawyers, the disclosure of isolated excerpts harms public debate and unbalances the dispute less than a month from the elections, since candidates do not have access to the complete context of the investigations.

On Wednesday, President Lula had already expressed support for the complete lifting of secrecy of the investigations of all those involved in the Master case, using the expression "no matter who it hurts." He referred to the case as the biggest financial crime in the country's history and demanded explanations and immediate measures against what he considered a serious problem.
