The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised interest rates again, which is expected to increase pressure on Portuguese families with mortgage loans. This decision comes in a context where Euribor rates are already following an upward trajectory, further aggravating the cost of home purchase loans.
According to the report, on a 250,000 euro mortgage, the monthly payment could exceed 1,180 euros. This represents a significant increase for borrowers, who were already facing difficulties with previous interest rate hikes.
The upward trend of Euribor, which are the most used benchmarks in mortgage loans in Portugal, has been pressuring household budgets. With this new ECB rate hike, it is anticipated that the cost of home loans will continue to increase in the coming months.
