The President of the Municipal Council of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo, received this Wednesday, at the Town Hall, the Ambassador of Uruguay, in a meeting that marks a new stage in the relationship between Guimarães and that South American country. The meeting took place within the framework of the existing twinning between Guimarães and the city of Colonia del Sacramento.
The main objective of this approach is to transform the existing cooperation link into new concrete opportunities for Guimarães. The local authority intends to bring together companies, universities, tourism entities and other agents from both territories, exploring areas with potential for mutual collaboration.
The areas identified as priorities for this cooperation are business, academic, tourism and technology. In particular, innovation, digital transformation, robotics and digital technologies were highlighted as areas of special interest, given Guimarães' business, scientific and technological ecosystem.
This approach is part of the internationalization strategy of the Municipal Council of Guimarães, which seeks to transform institutional relations into new opportunities for knowledge and investment for the Portuguese municipality.
