Sports journalist and commentator Claudio Carsughi died at 93 on Thursday. He had been hospitalized for 27 days and passed away after a respiratory infection. The information was shared by his daughter Claudia Carsughi in a post on social media, where she asked fans to pray for him. Information about the wake and burial has not yet been released.
Born in Arezzo, Italy, on October 13, 1932, Carsughi moved as a child to Florence, where his passion for soccer and the Fiorentina team was born. He arrived in Brazil with his family in 1946, shortly after the end of World War II, and studied at the Dante Alighieri School in São Paulo.
Carsughi graduated in Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, but chose to pursue a career in journalism. He began working at 16 as a newspaper correspondent, starting a decades-long trajectory in Brazilian sports journalism, becoming a reference in the field.
