Rail service on the Beira Baixa Line will resume on September 20, almost two years after it was suspended due to safety concerns related to slope stability in the Mouriscas area, in the district of Santarém.
CP - Comboios de Portugal announced that it will restore Regional and Intercidades services across the entire route, covering the section between Guarda and Entroncamento.
The line suspension had forced passengers to use alternative transportation solutions, causing significant disruptions to travel between the covered regions.
The reopening of the Beira Baixa Line represents the restoration of an important railway connection for the country's interior, linking several cities in Beira Alta and Beira Baixa to the rest of the Portuguese railway network.
