Rents may rise up to 2.56% in 2027

RTP Notícias10 September 2026 at 13:00

Landlords in Portugal may increase rents by up to 2.56% in 2027, according to August inflation data confirmed by the National Statistics Institute. This maximum limit applies to rental contracts covered by rent law that allow annual updates.

The value results from the rent update coefficient calculated based on the approved inflation rate. This is an increase lower than allowed in previous years, reflecting a slowdown in inflation in Portugal.

Landlords who wish to apply this increase must notify tenants of their intention within the legally required notice period.
