Asylum requests in the EU fall to 2021 levels in the first half of the year

Asylum requests in the European Union fell to levels similar to those of 2021 in the first half of the year. Between January and June, the 30 EU+ countries received 332 thousand asylum requests.

The EU+ is composed of the 27 member states of the European Union, which are joined by Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The number of requests registered between January and June represents a decrease compared to previous periods, approaching the values observed during the year of 2021.
