Singapore: prime minister increases salary by 1.1 million euros after first raise in 15 years

Singapore's Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, announced in Parliament on Tuesday salary increases for government members, the first in 15 years. This rise marks the end of a prolonged period without changes to ministerial remuneration.

The benchmark remuneration for the prime minister is expected to increase by 64%, reaching 3.6 million Singapore dollars, equivalent to approximately 2.4 million euros per year. This figure represents a significant increment compared to the previous salary.

The total increase for the prime minister will be approximately 1.1 million euros, reflecting the substantial nature of this salary update aimed at aligning compensation with the cost of living and the responsibilities of the office.
