Uganda leaves Invictus Games after letter from King Charles III

Uganda announced its withdrawal from the Invictus Games after receiving a letter from King Charles III, in which the monarch reinforced that Prince Harry and Meghan, dukes of Sussex, do not represent the British royalty. The decision was announced by the chief of the military forces of Uganda.

Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, blamed his father for Uganda's exit from the sporting competition for wounded and sick veterans. This situation arises in the context of an ongoing dispute between the prince and the British royal family.

The dukes of Sussex were removed from royal duties in 2020 and have maintained a tense relationship with the monarchy since then. King Charles III's letter aims to clarify that Harry and Meghan no longer speak on behalf of the monarchical institution.

The Invictus Games is an international competition founded by Prince Harry in 2014, which brings together veteran military athletes from various countries who suffered injuries or illnesses during service.
