The suicide prevention service received 25 thousand calls during its first year of operation. The person in charge of the service considered the number of calls "considerable", given that it is a new service.
The main reasons that led people to contact the service include anxiety, depression and family concerns. These reasons reflect the diversity of situations that lead people to seek help.
The service recorded peaks in demand during Christmas and summer, periods that are traditionally more difficult for those suffering from mental health problems. These data suggest the need to reinforce support during these times.
