An emergency inflatable slide was deployed on the American presidential plane Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday (9), before Donald Trump boarded en route to the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred while Trump was waiting inside the Marine One helicopter on the runway, having been stationary for about 20 minutes. Trump indicated that the emergency slide was intentionally deployed during a routine check.
Trump commented on the situation to reporters, explaining that they were checking the slide and that the process would take about 15 minutes. He stated that the team was conducting an emergency check and that he wanted to ensure the equipment worked perfectly before his departure.
However, a source close to the situation revealed to television network ABC News that the military accidentally deployed the slide, contradicting the president's version. Normally, emergency slides are not tested with actual deployment before departure, as removing and reinstalling them after deployment is a time-consuming and laborious process.
