The month of August 2023 broke the record and became the hottest month ever recorded in the world. The value was announced by the European Copernicus service, which monitors the global climate.
This new record surpasses the previous one, which had been recorded in July 2023. This means that the two consecutive hottest months in history were precisely July and August 2023.
The feat occurs during a summer marked by extreme heat in western Europe, where several countries faced temperatures well above normal for weeks.
Copernicus is a European climate monitoring service that collects data on global temperature and other environmental indicators, being one of the world references in this type of measurement.
