UGT leadership remains open after a meeting of the national secretariat of the union confederation ended without voting on the proposal for a new president.
The meeting did not reach a consensus on the choice of the next UGT president.
The proposal that should have been voted on was presented by the social-democratic tendency of the union confederation. However, the secretariat members decided not to submit the issue to a vote, leaving the leadership dispute unresolved.
The process of choosing the new UGT president is thus postponed, with the leadership of the union confederation remaining undefined until further notice.
