Suicide Prevention Line Receives 25,600 Calls in First Year

The Suicide Prevention Line received 25,600 calls during its first year of operation. Almost 700 of these contacts corresponded to imminent risk situations, representing a small but significant part of the total volume of calls received by the service.

The service managed to answer close to 80% of all calls received. The average wait time for assistance was 50 seconds, which suggests a relatively fast response for those seeking help on this support line.

Saudi Arabia carried out around 40 airstrikes against Yemen's Houthi rebels in the last few hours, after Houthi attacks on Saudi territory caused fires at oil facilities.
