The Portuguese Government is preparing a "firm opposition" to cuts in the next European budget. The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion was the voice of the executive in this position.
The holder of the Economy portfolio stated that the "minimum threshold" acceptable for Portugal in the approval of the next European Union budget is not to have a loss of European funds greater than the European average.
This position arises in the context of negotiations for the next Multiannual Financial Framework, where several Member States are defending significant cuts in Community funds.
The Portuguese Government thus maintains a posture of firmness in European negotiations, seeking to ensure that Portugal is not at a disadvantage in relation to other countries of the Union.
