Matilde Brasileiro became the national champion of urban downhill by winning the under-13 female category at the National Championship of the sport, held on August 8 in Castelo Branco. The young athlete from Clube Aventura Juvenil da Raposa reached the highest step of the podium in a historic race, held during the night through the streets of the city.
The competition took place on a course approximately one kilometer long with 73.7 meters of negative elevation change, connecting the Castle to the Civic Center of Castelo Branco. This was the first nighttime edition of the championship, which made the event even more special for the participants.
Clube Aventura Juvenil da Raposa had two other athletes in the spotlight. Pedro Estêvão finished the competition in third place in the under-13 male category, while Ricardo Brasileiro finished fifth in the Master 30 category.
In the elite men's category, Filipe Silva, athlete from Bike House DH/Guimarães, won the national title. The competition also featured the participation of Ana Barbosa, from Sporting Clube de Travancinha-Seia, among other competitors.
