The City Council of Santa Maria da Feira awarded the elaboration of the renovation and expansion project for the Escola Básica do Cavaco, belonging to the Agrupamento de Escolas de Santa Maria da Feira. The contract was signed for 32,500 euros, with an execution period of 1,096 days that includes the monitoring of the construction work.
The intervention includes the renovation of the existing building and the construction of a new building on adjacent land, as well as outdoor spaces. The new building will be destined for teaching support activities, including a library, storage and toilets.
The installation of an elevator serving all three floors is planned to ensure accessibility. The outdoor space will include a multi-purpose room and a sports court.
During the construction, the school will not close, with the rental of modular classrooms planned to accommodate approximately 120 students.
