NotíciasdeAveiro.pt10 September 2026 at 10:26

The Experimental Theatre Group of the University of Aveiro (GrETUA) began the September to December 2026 quarter, with gravity as the central theme. The program for this quarter covers various artistic expressions, including theater, dance, music, cinema, contemporary circus, and visual arts.

The group's new outdoor space was inaugurated at this stage, consisting of a deck built in the surrounding area of GrETUA, thus expanding the infrastructure available for activities and performances.

The programming was specially designed to welcome new university students, seeking to integrate students who are new to the institution through the artistic activities proposed by the group.

GrETUA is a group linked to the University of Aveiro that regularly promotes theatrical and cultural activities, maintaining an active presence in the academic community and the region.

"To have more women in concertinas, there need to be fewer men who think they're the greatest"

Margarida Pereira, a 15-year-old from Vieira do Minho, participated for the first time in the concertina parade at the Feiras Novas in Ponte de Lima, being one of the few women among hundreds of players. In an interview, she said the field remains dominated by men and left a provocation: to have more women in the instrument, there need to be fewer men who think they're the greatest. The young woman started playing about three years ago, inspired by her uncle, and now practices about an hour and a half a day, saying that playing concertina is the only thing she really likes to do. Margarida said that seeing so many young people her age playing is a sign that traditions are valued and won't be lost easily.
