CAP (Confederation of Portuguese Farmers) warned that the wine sector faces a crisis and defended the need to extend support to the whole country. The agricultural organization emphasized the urgency of support measures for wine producers affected by the current sector conditions.
Farmers also warned of the need to reduce the competitiveness gap between Portugal and Spain. This issue was presented as a priority to ensure the sustainability of Portuguese wine production in the Iberian context.
CAP has been advocating to the government for measures that allow national producers to face market challenges and competition from neighboring Spain. The Portuguese wine sector thus faces pressures that require immediate attention from the authorities.
