"Aviation underwent a profound transformation" after 9/11

The September 11, 2001 attacks had a very strong impact on aviation worldwide, causing the industry to undergo a profound transformation. This is the assertion of Rafael Esteves, the person responsible for TAP's Security sector, in written responses sent to the Portuguese news agency.

According to the Portuguese airline executive, TAP was also directly affected by the attacks. Among the main effects felt immediately after the attacks, Esteves highlights an immediate drop in demand for air services and a very significant increase in security concerns.

Metropolitan Volunteering Academy: Transforming Lives Through Social Commitment

Thirty-four young people from the Metropolitan Volunteering Academy participated yesterday in a plogging action in Maia, collecting around 600 kg of garbage, including tires and asphalt membrane, in an initiative by the Metropolitan Area of Porto dedicated to environmental sustainability and civic participation. The Councilor for Youth, Susana Junqueira Neto, received the participants at the Parish Council of Nogueira e Silva Escura, followed by a tribute ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, in Gaia, currently the Portuguese Capital of Volunteering. Maia is preparing to be the European Capital of Volunteering in 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting youth volunteering and training more conscious citizens.

SASUP Opens Applications for Collaborators Grant 2026/2027

The Social Action Services of the University of Porto (SASUP) have opened applications for the Collaborators Grant for the first semester of 2026/2027.
