A man responsible for security at the British embassy in Moscow was detained on charges of espionage for Ukraine. Russian authorities claim the individual was collecting information about staff at the British diplomatic representation.

The case comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Western countries, particularly since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Diplomatic relations between Moscow and the United Kingdom have been marked by mutual accusations of espionage activities.

The suspect is believed to have acted on behalf of Kyiv, collecting sensitive data about embassy personnel. Russian authorities have not disclosed further details about the operation or the full identity of the detainee.
