A drug developed using artificial intelligence managed to reduce biological age in patients in a small-scale clinical trial. The medication showed promising results in reversing markers associated with cellular aging.
The clinical trial involved forty-two patients diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic and progressive lung disease. The researchers used six independent biological clocks, all based on proteins, to measure the drug's impact on the biological age of the participants.
The results revealed that the patients appeared biologically younger after treatment. The most pronounced rejuvenation signal was observed after four weeks, using an intermediate dose of the drug.
This study represents a significant advance in the application of artificial intelligence in drug development, demonstrating that technology can accelerate the discovery of therapies targeting aging and age-related diseases.
