Casino da Póvoa Prize of 25 thousand euros returns to Correntes

The Casino da Póvoa Prize, worth 25 thousand euros, is returning to Correntes – Writing Festival. The award had been discontinued and its recovery has now been formalized through a protocol signed between the local council and Casino Barrière Póvoa. With the signing of this agreement, the prize will now be officially called Prémio Casino Barrière Póvoa, maintaining the same value of 25 thousand euros. This initiative represents a reinforcement of support for writing and literature in the context of the Correntes festival, which takes place in Póvoa de Varzim.

Cello Festival À Corda returns to Coimbra with nine proposals and historical instruments

The sixth edition of the Festival de Violoncelo à Corda takes place from September 20 to 27 in Coimbra, with nine proposals that combine music, heritage, training and historical instruments, including the Joanina Library, Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova, Sé Velha and Convento São Francisco. The festival features international performers, Portuguese musicians and young talents, highlighting the screening of the documentary "Where Music Grows" and the concert "O Legado de Suggia" with Guilhermina Suggia's Montagnana cello. The closing is by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra with "The Return of Don Quixote" by Richard Strauss, using Friedrich Grützmacher's cello.
