Two astronauts who participated in the Artemis II mission, which involved an orbit around the Moon, will stop spaceflights. Reid Wiseman and Victor Glover will serve as emeritus astronauts starting this month at NASA's Johnson Space Center.
Reid Wiseman, who had already completed a long-duration mission on the International Space Station in 2014, was the commander of the Artemis II mission. Victor Glover, for his part, had previous experience as a pilot on a SpaceX Crew-1 mission.
The decision marks a significant shift in their space careers, transitioning them from active flight status to emeritus roles within NASA's astronaut corps at the Johnson Space Center.
