The Spanish Government approved a decree to regulate data centers, which provoked a strong negative reaction from the technology industry. Operators, promoters, large business groups, utility companies, renewable companies, employers' associations, and various autonomous communities are preparing to submit claims against this regulation, which they consider harmful to the sector.
The measure fell like a bucket of cold water on an industry projecting investments of thousands of millions of euros in Spain. The decree represented an unexpected surprise for the companies in the sector, which found themselves obligated to mobilize quickly to defend their interests.
Faced with this situation, the data center giants hired a real army of law firms to defend themselves. Among the contracted law firms are references such as Garrigues, Uría Menéndez, Cuatrecasas, and Pérez Llorca, all specialized in business and regulatory law.
