The European Central Bank should announce today a rise in key interest rates, according to the majority of analysts consulted by the Portuguese news agency. The expectation of a rate increase comes in a context of concern about inflation in the eurozone.
The analysts consulted by the news agency show, however, a division of opinion regarding a possible new rate increase by the end of the year. Some specialists believe there may be further increases this year, while another part does not share that perspective.
The ECB is the institution responsible for monetary policy in the eurozone, with its decision on interest rates being decisive for financing conditions throughout the region. Analysts are divided in their forecasts about the next steps of the central bank.
