A fire broke out on a ferry in the Philippines, killing at least five people. The incident occurred in Philippine waters and mobilized emergency rescue operations.
Local authorities confirmed that dozens of people remain missing after the fire consumed part of the vessel. Rescue teams are working to locate survivors.
So far, 42 people have been rescued alive. The survivors received medical assistance and were taken to reception facilities nearby.
The causes of the fire are still being investigated by the Philippine maritime authorities, who are also trying to determine how many people were on board the ferry at the time of the accident.
