First lady Janja da Silva stated during a rally in Teresina, Piauí, that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, her husband and candidate for re-election, is the "true anointed of God." Janja praised the government's achievements, including removing Brazil from the hunger map in record time and strengthening the areas of healthcare, education, culture, and the economy.
Janja's declaration comes at a time when Justice André Mendonça, of the Supreme Court, is being treated by evangelical leaders as the "anointed" of God. Mendonça ordered this week the removal of Andrei Rodrigues from the position of director-general of the Federal Police.
The justice gained prominence among evangelicals with videos targeted at this audience, being shown during religious services. With this strategy, Mendonça accumulated over 1 million followers on Instagram in one week.
