The GNR's coastal surveillance system, known as "Big Brother", ruled out the possibility of a migrant landing having occurred in Sesimbra. The presence of migrants on the coastal area was not confirmed by the surveillance system.
The discovery of suspicious vehicles and empty petrol cans in the area increased the authorities' suspicions regarding a possible human trafficking operation. The authorities continue to investigate the case.
