Construction industry defends new investment phase in the Azores after plan

jornalacores9.pt9 September 2026 at 19:48

The association of construction industry professionals in the Azores warned of the need to "ensure a transition without interruptions" after the end of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). The association defended that the end of the PRR should be viewed not as an end point, but as an opportunity to start a new investment phase in the region.

The construction sector in the Azores faces the challenge of maintaining the pace of activity and employment when the European funds available through the PRR come to an end. The association highlighted that it is essential that there is continuity in investments to avoid an abrupt decline in the region's economic activity.

The alert comes at a time when various Portuguese regions dependent on European funds are beginning to prepare for the post-PRR period. The Azores construction industry association wants authorities to create conditions for a smooth transition that allows the sector to maintain its productive capacity and the employment levels achieved during the plan's validity.

Petrobras adjusts gasoline, but tax reduces impact

Petrobras announced a R$ 0.19 increase in gasoline prices, eliminating a previously offered discount. However, a R$ 0.63 reduction in federal taxes on fuels offsets the impact of the price adjustment, keeping the final price paid by consumers practically unchanged. The measure reflects the state-owned company's pricing policy and the government's decisions regarding fuel taxation.
