The socialist leader criticized the Government measure approved in the Council of Ministers that provides for the extension of agricultural diesel support until the end of the year. José Luís Carneiro considered that this measure is equivalent to "giving with one hand and taking with two," thus expressing his disagreement with the government initiative.
The estimated expenditure for this measure is 15 million euros. The agricultural diesel support falls within a broader set of aid approved by the Executive, which also includes support for the fisheries sector.
The socialist leader's position arises in the context of the debate on agricultural policies and their impacts on producers. Carneiro's criticism suggests that, in his view, the benefits granted by the Executive are insufficient or are offset by other measures that harm the sector.
