The Regulatory Authority for Social Communication (ERC) identified non-conformities in the restructuring process of the Lusíada news agency. The regulator considers that there are issues that deserve attention regarding the way the restructuring was conducted.

The ERC warned about the effects that this restructuring may have on public perception regarding the independence levels of Lusíada from political power. This concern arises in the context of a process that the regulator understands needs greater transparency and rigor.

The regulatory body stressed that editorial independence and the separation between news management and political power are fundamental for the credibility of a news agency. Lusíada, as a reference news agency, must ensure that its structural decisions do not compromise public trust.
