"Safeguarding the integrity of the Court" and "serious harm to public order": Fachin's messages regarding disputes among STF ministers

The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, took a series of measures late Wednesday afternoon in an attempt to circumvent the crisis faced by the Court, with clashes between ministers Alexandre de Moraes, André Mendonça, and Flávio Dino. The dispute ended up reaching the Federal Police, with the removal of the head of the corporation, Andrei Rodrigues, and his subsequent reinstatement to the position less than 24 hours later, by decision of Dino.

In his decisions, Fachin scheduled for next Tuesday, the 15th, the trial to address a Federal Police report that shows exchange of messages between banker Daniel Vorcaro, from Banco Master, and Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The president of the STF also took over the investigation of the so-called fake news inquiry, which has been running for seven years, removing Moraes from the function.

In his decisions, Fachin used expressions such as "safeguarding the integrity of the Court" and "serious harm to public order" to justify his measures in the face of the escalation of the unprecedented crisis at the STF. The minister took the opportunity to send a message to his colleagues in light of the situation.
