The Chega party submitted a request to the First Committee (Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees) to urgently hear the director of the Judicial Police, Luís Neves. The parliamentary group is led by André Ventura.
The request comes following a clash of versions between Luís Neves and the Deputy Attorney General, Rita Alarcão Júdice, regarding Operation Pacoba. The divergences between the two figures of the judicial system prompted the hearing request by the party.
The request aims to directly confront the leadership of the Judicial Police with the contradictions that arose between the two positions within the judicial apparatus. The hearing will allow parliament to clarify the terms of the dispute regarding the operation in question.
The formalization of this request represents a new episode of tension between the executive and judicial institutions, with the opposition pressing for public clarification about the internal divergences affecting the conduct of a criminal investigation.
