The president of the Supreme Federal Court, Minister Edson Fachin, has been meeting individually with the ministers considered at the "center" of the institutional crisis at the Court. On Wednesday afternoon (9), he received Minister Flávio Dino in the presidency's office, who hours earlier had suspended the removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues.
In the morning, Fachin had already spoken by phone with Minister André Mendonça, who expressed his displeasure with Dino's preliminary injunction decision. The president of the STF also met with Minister Alexandre de Moraes in the presidency's office.
The actions of Dino, Moraes and Mendonça expose what experts call a "war of single-handed decisions" at the STF. A professor assessed that the ministers are making decisions individually that directly impact the functioning of the Court.
Fachin has been pressured to give a response amid the crisis. This morning, he cancelled the plenary session that was scheduled for Wednesday at 2 PM. The internal assessment is that the minister is being systematically overruled and that he needs to take a firmer position to resolve the impasse.
